MUTHOLATH NAGAR

Mutholath Nagar is the common name given by Cardinal Mar George Alancherry on February 14, 2017 at the inauguration of Mutholath Auditorium for all the institutions at Cherpunkal in Kottayam Dt., Kerala State, India. These institutions are owned and operated by Kottayam Social Service Society (KSSS), the Social Service Department of the Archdiocese of Kottayam. The institutions are the following:

AGAPE BHAVAN

Agape Bhavan

Agape Bahvan is situated one kilometer north of Mutholath Auditorium on the side of Cherpunkal Palayam road. This institution serves the physically and mentally disabled persons and their families. It also has a note book making unit and paper bag production unit for nearby hospitals that support the disabled and the members of the self-help groups in the area. The institution started functioning on August 16, 2014 in a newly constructed classroom on the land donated by Fr. Abraham Mutholath. The fully constructed building was blessed and inaugurated on January 2, 2006.

Good Samaritan Resource Center is situated on the Ettumanoor – Pala bypass roadside at Cherpunkal. It functions as the State Learning Centre for the Rehabilitation of Deafblind Persons with disabilities in general. Its services focus on the integral development of persons with disabilities so that they enjoy a life of dignity in society. The foundation stone for the building was laid on August 15, 2010 by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Bishop of Chicago Mar Jacob Angadiath and presided over the public meeting by His Grace Mar Mathew Moolakkatt, Archbishop of Kottayam. August 21, 2011 by Kerala Finance Minister Mr. K.M. Mani and meeting presided over by His Grace Mar Mathew Moolakkatt.

Major Archbishop of the Syro Malabar Church Mar George Cardinal Alencherry, blessed this auditorium on 14th February 2017. His Grace Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt presided over the public meeting. This air-conditioned auditorium at Cherpunkal in Kottayam District is available for service to the public at reasonable facility usage fee. Its revenue is fully used for the maintenance of Good Samaritan Centre and Agape Bhavan at Cherpunkal. The auditorium can be used as wedding banquet halls, conferences, public meetings, and similar functions.
