HISTORICAL BACKGROUND

Our auditorium’s inception was driven by a meaningful vision. As part of Sense International’s support for the Deafblind program at Good Samaritan Centre, the Kottayam Social Service Society (KSSS) recognized the need to establish a sustainable source of income to ensure ongoing financial backing for the center. Thus, the idea of creating an auditorium that could serve both the public and KSSS activities in the region was born. Renting out the space for public events would provide the necessary support for the Samaritan Centre’s operations and sustainability. Additionally, this project had the potential to serve as a Silver Jubilee Memorial for KSSS.
With the understanding and approval of Fr. Abraham Mutholath and Fr. Michael Vettikkatt, the director of KSSS, Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt granted permission on September 10, 2014, to construct Mutholath Auditorium within the premises of the Good Samaritan Center. The foundation stone was laid by Mar Moolakkatt in September 2014, and further details were discussed during a meeting between Fr. Mutholath and Mar Mathew Moolakkatt in Chicago on September 26, 2014.
The construction of the auditorium was carried out under the guidance of Vicar General Fr. Michael Vettikkatt, Diocesan Procurator Fr. Alex Akkapparambil, and KSSS director Fr. Bins Chethalil, with Fr. Sujith Kanjirathummoottil providing supervision.
The grand inauguration of Mutholath Auditorium took place on February 14, 2017, bY Mar George Cardinal Alencherry, the head of the Syro Malabar Church. The event was graciously presided over by Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt.
Mutholath Auditorium, alongside the Impact Centre, Good Samaritan Centre for the Deafblind, and Agape Bhavan for the physically and mentally disabled, is under the ownership and guidance of the Kottayam Social Service Society (KSSS). Established in 1964, KSSS is the official organization of the Archeparchy of Kottayam, dedicated to serving the community and those in need.
At Mutholath Auditorium, we take pride in our role in supporting the noble cause of the Good Samaritan Centre, which provides crucial assistance and care to children with visual and hearing impairments. The center’s establishment in 2010 was made possible through the visionary efforts of Fr. Abraham Mutholath, who generously contributed both land and funds. By hosting public gatherings and events, we continue to support and uphold the mission of the Good Samaritan Centre and KSSS, making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.
