MUTHOLATH AUDITORIUM
Mutholath Auditorium
is an air conditioned and beautifully designed auditorium available for
the use of banquets, public meetings, conferences and other similar
gatherings. It has sufficient parking and an open lower level for
additional use. Its seating capacity in the main hall is 650. It is
wheelchair accessible.
Mutholath Auditorium is located
on the highway side of Ettumanoor Pala road at Cherpunkal village in
Kottayam District, Kerala State, India. Its revenue is fully used for
the maintenance of
Good Samaritan
Centre and
Agape Bhavan at Cherpunkal. Both these institutions in the
Mutholath
Nagar in Cherpunkal serve the differently abled (disabled) and their
families.
Mutholath Auditorium, Good
Samaritan Centre for the deafblind, and Agape Bhavan for the physically
and mentally disabled are run the Kottayam
Social Service Society, the social service department of the
Archdiocese of Kottayam. All
these are located at Mutholath Nagar in Cherpunkal.
Major Archbishop of the Syro
Malabar Church Mar George Cardinal Alencherry, blessed this auditorium
on 14th February 2017. His Grace Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt
presided over the public meeting.
Kottayam Social Service Society (KSSS), the official organization of
the Archeparchy of Kottayam was
established in 1964. KSSS started the
Samaritan
Resource Centre at Cherpunkal in 2010 by utilizing the land and
financial assistance donated by Fr. Abraham Mutholath, in order to serve
as a centre for human resource development with special focus to the
differently-abled.
Samaritan
Resource Centre is unique in its services, offering holistic care
and rehabilitation services for the Persons with Deafblindness and
Persons with Multiple Sensory Impairment (MSI). In order to enhance the
facilities and to seek continued financial support of this Centre, a
full-fledged Air-conditioned auditorium has been completed in its
premises with the continued support of Fr. Abraham Mutholath.
Agape Bahvan
is situated one kilometer north of Mutholath Auditorium on the side of
Cherpunkal Palayam road. This institution serves the physically and
mentally disabled persons and their families. It also has a note book
making unit and paper bag production unit for nearby hospitals that
support the disabled and the members of the self-help groups in the
area. The institution started functioning on August 16, 2014 in a newly
constructed classroom on the land donated by Fr. Abraham Mutholath. The
fully constructed building was blessed and inaugurated on January 2,
2006.
